One of the most important locations in Versilia, on one side the sea, on the other the peaks of the Apuan Alps.
Viareggio is not only a destination for lovers of seaside tourism, it has always attracted lovers of figurative arts. In fact, along the promenade it is possible to admire many Art Nouveau buildings with precious art-deco decorations. Among the most famous buildings of this type we remember Villa Argentina and the Caffé Margherita, the café frequented by Giacomo Puccini.
Also famous for the Carnival of the same name characterized by gigantic allegorical floats, the city has dedicated to this event an urban park where the Viareggio craftsmen masters of papier-mâché work: the Citadel of the Carnival.
