Torre del Lago, a famous summer tourist destination, thanks to the presence of discos and the Lecciona beach, is the pivot of the “Friendly Versilia” project.
This fraction of Viareggio is also the seat of the “Festival Puccini” lyric festival, in which the composer’s works are represented in an open-air theater on Lake Massaciuccoli.
A few tens of meters from the theater, overlooking the central Belvedere square, there is also the liberty villa where Giacomo Puccini lived, composed and was buried. Both the villa and the Church of San Giuseppe, where the composer’s funeral took place, can be visited.
From the square you can also leave for guided excursions on Lake Massaciuccoli, where you can closely observe rare plants and birds, and within the Migliarino-San Rossore-Massaciuccoli Natural Park.
